Moving Day

The weekend was finally here. This was going to be my last trip to Cleveland. Paul was moving back. Moving back home. Paul’s mom and youngest brother were kind enough to venture out east to help with the apartment clean out. There is always more stuff and more work than imagined when it comes to moving out of an apartment.

They drove a load of stuff back to Pittsburgh for us in the van, including Paul’s bed and his favorite piece of furniture: the rocker recliner. The extra hours on the road and time behind the wheel saved us so much work. Poor Kathy was stuck in the back of the van like a sardine! We unpacked the car and spent some time figuring out how we were going to get all the new stuff into our small house. That evening we went for a walk to “downtown Squirrel Hill” for their midnight market. We didn’t buy anything, but enjoyed some waffles at Waffelonia – always a treat.

The next morning, they went back to Cleveland, and took Drew for two days while I worked and took care of myself, which was amazing. I went to two yoga classes to restore and refresh. I worked long days to try to catch up, and cleaned my house without the assistance of my toddler. Shortly after my run of independence I was in Cleveland with the rest of the family washing floors, packing boxes and getting ready to move!

We went out to eat twice in one night since Paul and I had Groupons that were going to expire. Well, turns out one expired the two days prior, which Paul was quite upset about. But, in the process we found out that I also had a Groupon to redeem at Bodega. Kathy babysat and Paul, Dooze, John and I went out for one last round of tappas, toasting to the last night in Cleveland! We are so thankful for all of the Anderson help and many trips to Cleveland that happened over the last year. We are so grateful that John decided to join Paul this year and keep us company – and maintain Paul’s sanity. It would have been a very long year without him, and… DALE. I had such a nice time getting to know my brother-in-law, as he was thrown without much choice into the middle of our chaotic family. It didn’t take long before he was part of our team. Our house is always open – there’s always a guest room if the East is calling John!

Life has this funny way of sending new and exciting obstacles our way, which turn out to be wonderful and memorable journeys. We were a bit apprehensive about the idea of Paul training in Cleveland for a year – but we now have many wonderful memories from the experience.
