Because I have the most supportive husband, he didn't blink twice when I asked if we could drive 12 hours to go home and see my grandmother who had been hospitalized. I was finishing up work, and he was packing the car.  We had planned to go camping that weekend, but instead jumped in the car and went West to be with my mom, dad and grandmother.  We got on the road around 6PM and drove until 4 AM in the morning.  It was an absolute haul. We did it though, and made it back to town to see family. I even packed in a few audio lectures while my hubby and the boys snoozed during the last few hours of the road trip.

We stayed with my parents and had a quick day together. I was in the midst of clerkships studying so I was trying to cram some of the material into my mind while also worrying about everything else going on.  Paul took the opportunity to bring Drew to Bay Beach so I could study and spend more time with my family. It was so sweet and Drew loved riding the trains. Such a sweet little man date between dad and son.  We decided to stay one more day since everything was still in fluctuation and uncertainty remained.

Monday morning, we packed up again and hit the road for another 12 hours east with two kids, and two tired adults. It was a wild experience. Especially because our little guy had a sour stomach.  There were two gas stations where I literally threw his clothes in the garbage - no saving that mess, haha!

I am so fortunate to be surrounded by such supportive and close family.

I am grateful every day. <3
