Translational Science 2016

It was a quick trip to Washington, DC to present at the Translational Science 2016 conference. This conference brings together many of the institutions that received Clinical and Translational Science Awards (CTSA).  It was one of the main features that I was looking for in an MD/PhD program. The CTSA award shows an institutional dedication to the promotion and training of future clinic researchers and translational scientists. The main goal is to bring scientific findings closer to the patient, and bring evidence closer to practice. I find the whole spectrum of translational research to be fascinating.

About to present my poster!

About to present my poster!

I presented a poster on my research on dermatologic care in inflammatory bowel disease patients. (AlyceCTSPoster) I spend a lot of my research time organizing data from the electronic health record to make sense of trends over time and across a variety of patients. Despite my growing need for prescription lenses from all the computer time, I love what I do. There are new and exciting questions to think about everyday.

I am grateful for the opportunity to join translational scientists from across the country!
