Waterpark Groupon

As many of you know, our family likes Groupons.  I like cramming quick trips into weekends or any time we have off. Paul had a few days off and our daycare was closed - so we tried to take advantage of the overlap and take a one night trip to Sandusky, Ohio. It was clearly the offseason and they were trying to lure people to the resort with good deals. We got a room for a little over $100 and then were rewarded with close to $100 in arcade credits.  We decided to celebrate our little guys' one year birthday with a trip primarily targeted for my older kid - haha - siblings.. so it begins..

We hit the road with a car full of stuff, including budget friendly meals from our cooler so we could eat out of our hotel room's microwave. It was truly a money saving adventure - and I'm so grateful I convinced my husband (and our au pair) to make the most of the two days!

We drove and checked into the hotel and decided to hit the arcade first. Paul was searching around for games he could win and master, I was pushing him towards the basketball arcade so he could channel is inner "first team all conference". But instead he found the love from the Clown game, where you throw balls at clowns to knock them over. He also recruited Lovis to help him knock over the clowns with her targeted throws. My depth perception was not an asset for throwing at the clowns. I was never very good at softball, especially the throwing part - haha! Anyway, Paul and Lovis cleaned house in the arcade with the clown game.

We tried napping (which was an epic fail) and finally called it quits and went to the pool. Drew had to wear his life jacket and started out quietly in the kids pool. It didn't take him long to warm up to the experience and he was running circles around the pool, going down slides backwards - haha! We then took turns as adults going down the bigger waterslides.

The trip was finalized with some pizza, pool time, another round at the arcade and the grand finale of blue ice cream and sprinkles. Drew had a great time at the arcade putting coins into the slot machines. He hit this "bonus' accidentally by freak chance and won 1,000 tickets, haha! It was hilarious!! He's standing by this machine that is going off with flashing lights and the tickets are pouring out of the bottom - and he could care less. The tickets won him a dinosaur light, a slinky and some footballs. We seriously robbed the bank with the arcade - hah!

Somehow the toddler won the jackpot, haha! Clearly there is no science to this kind of gambling…

It was a nice little adventure of just the right length. We were back in our house resting the next evening, recuperating from two days full of activities and madness. Thank you to my husband and crew who joined me on this quick adventure!
